The Self Directed Support Service in Bath and North East Somerset offers:


  • Direct Payments Support - Information, support and guidance on all aspects of receiving and managing a direct payment.
  • Support for Self Funders - We offer support, advice and guidance to people who self fund their care and support similar to those who receive a direct payment.
  • Payroll Services - Information about services to support you to calculate wages, tax and national insurance payments
  • Managed Account Service - This Financial Management Support Service enables people in receipt of a direct payment to have funding paid directly to Shaw Trust so that payments to Personal Assistants and other services can be made. This service is especially suitable for people who need extra support with managing their care finances and those who are unable to open a bank account.
  • PA Bank - A successful service where Personal Assistants who are looking for work register with us so we can match them to direct payment employers with vacancies in terms of location, hours and role.
  • Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) Service - We can provide a CRB checking service for all our clients who are employing new staff.
  • Personal Assistant Training - We offer Training to Personal Assistants & employers (free) under the Direct Payments Scheme.
  • Support for setting up a Trust Fund - We have trained advisors and a detailed pack to support families and social workers in setting up a Trust fund.
  • A Quarterly Newsletter - Our newsletter provides Employment law updates, new policies & changes and what’s going on in the area.
  • Direct Payment Training / Presentations - We can arrange to visit Social Work teams, universities, other organisations and community based groups.
  • Champion Service Users - We actively encourage people who have experience of receiving a direct payment to support us with delivering new services, meeting, presentations, home visits and talking to people who are interested in the service.
