Salisbury's Biggest Ever Dinner Party

To coincide with the Salisbury Food & Drink Festival in September people across the city will be running dinner parties to enjoy locally sourced food with friends and help Shaw Trust and Salisbury Festivals, two important local charities.

It couldn't be simpler to organise your own fundraising dinner party.  You can make all of the arrangements online at www.dinner4good.com/salisbury or get in touch with us and well send you an information pack with everything you need, including invitation cards.

What's more everyone who registers in spring will recieve a pack of vegetable seeds kindly donated by Thompson and Morgan so they can grow some of the food they serve.  By hosting your party between 16th and 20th September 2010 you'll also be able to take advantage of the Food & Drink Festival to source other local ingredients.

The Difference you'll be helping to make

At our project in Salisbury, local disabled and disadvantaged people come together to take part in horticulture activities and learn valuable life skills. This work helps them grow in confidence making every day activities, such as going shopping or making a healthy meal, less daunting and more manageable.

By growing plants for our nursery and food for themselves the people we work with are able to flourish.  Our teams also take great pride in nurturing the grounds of some local churches and public places, keeping them looking beautiful for everyone to enjoy.

Raising £20 from you dinner party could pay for new gardening tools for the project, £50 is the registration fees for a disabled or disadvantaged person to gain a City and Guilds qualification which will move them closer to their dream of a paid job while £200 would fix one of our poly tunnels which shelters new plants.

Salisbury International Arts Festival needs your support to deliver an even more extensive education programme across the region, enabling young and disadvantaged people to develop their creativity, talents and skills.
In 2009 the Festival:
• hosted the Big Play Day, a day of free workshops and creative play for local families, attended by 4,000 children and adults
• enabled 150 local school children, including young people with disabilities, to take part in music, art and literature events
• enabled 40 young carers and their relatives to visit a festival for the first time
• premiered My Salisbury, a film made by people with learning disabilities; members of the group hosted a public workshop, presented the film to the audience and took part in a question and answer session after the screening.

By being part of Salisbury's Biggest Ever Dinner Party you'll be helping people accross the community who need your support, while having a good time.
