Condition Management works for Antonio

ICE cream man Antonio Vizzini is back at work. After years of experiencing depression, he is now off benefits and back in the job he loves, bringing his ice treats to customers.

Antonio says he’s a very different person to the man who first registered on the Pathways programme, delivered in Greater Manchester East and West by Shaw Trust and its partners. He had left his flat to live with his parents, was under the care of his GP and spent most of his time at home, unable to face the outside world.
“I didn’t feel like going anywhere or doing anything, I was in a pretty bad way.”

Antonio was referred to the Condition Management Programme delivered by the charity’s partner organisation Salus, to help him understand and manage his de-pression.

“The Condition Management Programme gave me my confidence back. Over time, I started to feel better about myself and as I started to feel better, I started feeling ready to return to work and I never looked back. I didn’t want to get out of bed before but now, as soon as it’s 7.30am, I’m up and ready. I appreciate every single day.”
