Hat trick of web accessibility success

18 August 2011

Shaw Trust's web accessbility team are celebrating a triple success after accrediting the websites of organisations spanning public, private and third sectors.

The Trust's team, one of the UK’s leading digital inclusion services, has accredited websites for Guildford Borough Council, leading homebuilder Taylor Wimpey and the Heritage Lottery Fund in recent weeks. People logging on to those websites can be assured that they comply with equality legislation by being accessible for users who have different needs in accessing, navigating or reading information online.

A Shaw Trust spokesperson said: 'Disabled people won’t return to a website that they can’t access, meaning that through no fault of their own they could be missing out on vital information about services or products. More and more organisations across different sectors are recognising not only their responsibilites but the business opportunites that come with digital inclusion. We're delighted to say that Guildford BC, Taylor Wimpey and the Heritage Lottery Fund passed the accreditation with flying colours.'
