Lincolnshire Alternative Curriculum Project

A work experience programme for students on the Alternative Curriculum programme, Solutions 4, in Lincolnshire.

The young people on this programme are aged 14-16 and are either excluded from school or are school non-attendees.  They attend one of 12 training sites around Lincolnshire where they study for Key Skills and Vocational qualifications.  The work experience programme is now a core part of their education.

The placement is with a local company in a career of their choice and the length of the placement can vary from a week to a year, depending on the progress of the student.

The aim of the programme is to support the student in:

  • Developing job skills
  • Developing communication skills
  • Job searching
  • Confidence building
  • Personal development
  • Progression into work or further college or training.

Links are made with local employers around Lincolnshire, who agree to work with us in helping to progress these students in their personal development and then into work, college or some form of training.

Project funding: Lincolnshire Education Authority.

Project partners: Connexions and Youth Offending Service.
