New Shaw Trust Charity Shop for Lymington
2 August 2010
People from Lymington on the lookout for a bargain are in for a treat with the new Shaw Trust shop opening at 52A High Street on Tuesday 3 August. Canny shoppers will be able to choose from a wide selection of second-hand adult and children’s clothes, books, toys and items for the home. Pamela Lamb, shop manager for Shaw Trust, says: “Our shops are very popular. This is the 37th to open in the UK. We already operate successful outlets in Basingstoke, Andover, Eastleigh and Lyndhurst so it’s great to be able to add to our high-street presence in Hampshire.” Shaw Trust operates employment services in Hampshire, and around the country, to enable people with disability or disadvantage to find work and achieve independence.
Pamela continues: “All our shops are staffed by volunteers and we are always on the lookout for people interested in helping out for an hour or two, or more! We like to promote a very happy atmosphere for volunteers with social events, staff discounts and of course plenty of cups of tea. As well as a great way of meeting new people, volunteers in our shops also gain valuable retail work experience.”
Shaw Trust relies on good-quality donations to stock the shop which can be delivered to the premises during opening hours. The charity also runs a fleet of stock collection vans around the country to pick up donation bags. Anyone who has donations to be picked up should telephone the retail department on 01225 716345.

Notes to editors
Shaw Trust is a national charity, formed in 1982, which helps people with disability or disadvantage to find work and achieve independence. We do this not only by delivering government programmes, but also through our own self-funded initiatives, and by campaigning to change attitudes at all levels. Across the UK more than 1,600 staff now oversee a diverse range of more than 200 projects.
