The Shaw Trust delivers a menu of Self-Directed Support services underpinned by an understanding of the social model of disability and a commitment to promoting user involvement in the design and improvement of services. The support provided are as follows:-

Direct Payments/Individualised Budget Support

We support and enable disabled people to access Social Care monies as a Direct Payment/Individualised Budget and to use this money to organise personal support. This concerns primarily the recruitment, employment, deployment and retention of personal assistants.

Financial Management Support service

Payroll Calculation Service – We provide a professional service which aims to take the stress of the client as an employer, whether it is through a Direct Payment, Individual budget. ILF or Self Funder
Third Party Support - We can make payments on your behalf directly to your identified Personal Assistant and/or Agency staff
Managed Accounts Individual Budgets – We can manage all invoices, payroll, and receipts of Individual Budget expenditure issuing payments directly on your behalf.

Support Planning and Brokerage

We support people in receipt of Individual Budgets to produce an individual support plan to achieve a set of personal agreed outcomes (Support Planning). This support plan does not have to be written, we can support you to produce plans that may be of picture, diagram, tape or video formats. We will support you to negotiate with providers and enable you to implement the plan (Brokerage).

Training Workshops for Self Funders

We can offer information, support and advice to ILF and Self Funders on all aspects of receiving and managing the funding received. This includes training on the submission of monthly/quarterly returns to the Local Authority.

Self Directed Support Training/Presentations

We can arrange visits with Social Work Teams, Universities, other organisations and community based groups.

Employment Workshops

We deliver workshops for Self Directed Support Users requiring support to go back into work, this includes CV writing and Job Coaching.
