Barbara Follett MP visited Shaw Goodwill (Retail with a Conscience) on Thursday 8 July at 3.30pm at the Forum Shopping Centre in Stevenage. Officially launched in March this year, Shaw Goodwill is a 6000 sq foot charity store selling a range of clothing, gifts and household items to those shopping on a budget.
Shaw Goodwill is a three-way partnership between national UK charity Shaw Trust, Goodwill Industries International of the USA and the Rehab Group of Ireland. All three organisations have many years experience in the retail sector and have demonstrated individual success in initiatives that benefit local communities. Each organisation also has considerable experience and a good track record in training for work and finding jobs for disabled and disadvantaged people. Profits from this venture will be used to assist UK people who face barriers to employment.
Barbara Follett MP said: "Everyone likes to snap up a bargain! I have really enjoyed meeting everyone at the Shaw Goodwill shop."
Angella Deal, Retail Manager at Shaw Goodwill said, "Since Shaw Goodwill opened it has had fantastic support from local people and I'm delighted to have Ms Follett visit us to learn more about our exciting plans for the future. We're looking ahead to create a new retail experience for people shopping on a budget in Stevenage. Every day we have different in-store promotions. "
