Residents in East Bolton, Lancashire will soon be benefiting from a job matching process aimed at introducing disadvantaged candidates to job vacancies within the health care sector, thanks to a £400k new initiative granted by East Bolton Regeneration and managed by Shaw Trust.
Shaw Trust will be managing the three year project which aims to enable people to participate in work experience, giving them time to assess their suitability, leading on to full or part-time work.
Shaw Trust will work closely with Bolton PCT, Social Services and Bolton Royal Hospital as well as other local health care providers in both the public and private sectors to identify vacancies.
The project will also link into other existing training and employment providers in the area to support users of the programme in gaining skills and also to ensure they access all the available support they can to make a successful transition into work.
Shaw Trust's Operations Manager, Teresa Lloyd said, "We are delighted to have been granted this funding by East Bolton Regeneration. The money will provide a project employing four staff who will work with local people to provide information, guidance, training, work experience opportunities, leading to employment in the field of Health and Social Care.
"By working closely with local Health Care providers we will provide local, unemployed, people with opportunities to learn new skills and ways of transferring their existing skills into new areas of work. Health Care is not just about nursing, there are a wide range of jobs available in the sector and this project aims to show local people the variety of roles and how they can use their skills to secure work in this field."
