Wednesday 19th September saw the sixth and final of the regional STAR Awards events for 2007. This year's STAR Awards also mark our 25th anniversary as, for the first time, we are holding six regional events, from which the winners will go forward to our national STAR Awards in November.
The North East area were the hosts for this regional event and Angela Heenan, Regional Employment Manager and Karen Stubbings, Regional Manager for Work, Skills and Independence highlighted the many successes and achievements of the clients, staff, mentors, volunteers, employers and partner organisations who were in attendance at the awards held in County Durham.
Top TV Football pundit and commentator Mark Lawrenson was the VIP guest at the Hardwick Hall hotel to hand the worthy winners their awards. "These inspirational winners have overcome so many barriers to achieve their goals", said Mark, a former Liverpool and Republic of Ireland defender.

Local Employer: NEXUS
Partner Organisation: Moving Upstream
Workplace Mentor: Jimmy Hall
