"I was eccstatic to be offered a job at the end of the interview and started work the day after that"

Personal problems and disability resulted in a return home to the UK from Canada for Dave Hall of Blackpool.  

 "I have arthritic knees which were so bad I ended up on incapacity benefits" Dave explains.  "I heard about Shaw Trust through Ian Harrison, the Disability Employment Advisor in my Job Centre Plus". 

 "I then met with Carole Hawley, a Personal Adviser for the Trust, and after speaking to her, I thought I might like to retrain as a Driver."

 "She managed to get me a placement with West Coast Training, funded by Job Centre Plus, and after thirteen weeks training and lots of encouragement I left with an LGV Class 1 and LGV Class 2 Driving certificate."

 "Now ready to work, David McKee the Shaw Trust Recruitment Advisor arranged an interview for me with Fylde Motor Company the next day.

 I was ecstatic to be offered a job at the end of the interview and started work the day after that – whew, what a week!"

 "And it doesn't end there, Shaw Trust then provided me with wet weather clothing, a pair of protector boots, boiler suits and a pair of gloves as well as a job start grant which was really helpful to me in the early days of work until I started getting wages."
