Work Preparation is a Government programme designed to give you a 'jump start' into work.
It is a flexible programme and depends upon your specific needs. It usually lasts between 6 and 13 weeks.

You can stay on your existing benefits whilst on the programme and usually any expenses you have incurred (such as travel costs) will be repaid.

Work Preparation enables you to find out and try the kind of work you are suited to. It helps to build confidence by enabling you to work in a real environment before you progress into full employment.

At the end of the period we will provide you with a full report and discuss and design with you a development and action plan for your future needs.

Shaw Trust can advise you about Work Preparation as part of our Finding a job or personal development service, or our Services for organisations, or for further details see the Jobcentre Plus webpage on Work Preparation
