Shaw Trust achieves ‘One To Watch’ status in best companies accreditation

National charity is largest third sector organisation to receive status.National employment charity, Shaw Trust, has achieved ‘one to watch’ status in the prestigious Best Companies accreditation scheme 2009.
The charity, which has 1,400 staff, was particularly praised for its staff training and employee engagement and for the fact that employees thought their future prospects within the organisation were good.
Best Companies Accreditation was established to acknowledge excellence in the workplace and feeds in to the prestigious Sunday Times ‘Best Companies to Work for in the UK’. 639 companies made it through to the 2009 accreditation scheme and 225 achieved ‘one to watch’ status. Just over 400 companies were awarded star status.
Carol Alexander, Chief Officer People & Performance, says “We are delighted to receive this accreditation at our first attempt as it recognises the fact that we working hard to ensure that our employees feel engaged and a part of the organisation. We have 1,400 staff based around the UK and it is important that every one of them, whether they are based in Paisley or Portsmouth, feels that they are part of a successful team.”
Other companies to achieve ‘one to watch’ status include Tesco.com, Nissan, Big Lottery Fund, the Football Association and Dyslexia Action.
Shaw Trust was also recently voted as one of the UK’s most gay friendly employers in the Stonewall workplace equality Top 100.
