Shaw Trust HR team wins prestigious diversity award
7 January 2009
Shaw Trust won a prestigious award at the 2008 Recruitment Awards, held in Bristol on October 17.The charity, which has almost 1,400 staff, won the award for its work in the area of diversity. As the UK’s leading voluntary sector provider of employment services to disabled and disadvantaged people, diversity is key to the charity’s mission. 19.5% of staff at Shaw Trust have a disability and last year it has helped more than 67,000 disabled and disadvantaged people change their lives for the better through access to employment and living more independent lives.
The judges praised the HR Services Recruitment Team and said that it demonstrated a strong commitment to the charity’s values and went the extra mile to encourage a diverse workforce.
The charity was also shortlisted in two other categories: Best Recruitment Initiative and the Corporate Citizenship Initiative. The judges praised the fact that the HR team had helped Shaw Trust expand its services and support more clients to achieve their potential. The judges were impressed by how the team had given Shaw Trust competitive advantage by getting new contracts started on time in very tight timescales.
Senior HR Advisor, Kathryn Roynon commented: “The HR department has had an exceptionally busy year, and really pulled together to implement several high volume campaigns, so we were delighted that our achievements have been recognised by being shortlisted in three categories. To come away with an award that reflects our organisation’s vision and values is something we’re really proud of.”
