Shaw Trust Stars in Channel 4 Documentary 'Benefit Busters'

20 August 2009

National employment charity, Shaw Trust, is to star in a new documentary series about welfare reform due to be shown on Channel 4 on Thursday September 3rd at 9pm.

The film ‘Benefit Busters’ is part of a three-part series on welfare reform produced by award-winning production company Studio Lambert.

Shaw Trust features in the third film in the series which examines the Pathways to Work programme in Oldham, Greater Manchester.

The programme follows three Shaw Trust clients on the Pathways to Work programme as they start their journey from benefits back into work.

The film interviews the advisors helping the three back to work and talks to the three about their backgrounds and why they want to find work.

The Greater Manchester Pathways to Work Programme is one of the most successful Pathways programmes in the country and has placed 4000 people back into employment since the programme was introduced in 2007.

Tim Pape, Director General of Shaw Trust comments:

“We were pleased to be able to participate in this programme. For more than 25 years we have been helping disabled and disadvantaged people find work and achieve independence and we hope that this film, which will be shown on prime time television, will help raise our profile and encourage more people to come to us for help in finding work.”

Shaw Trust is the largest third sector organisation delivering welfare to work programmes on behalf of the Government.
