Shaw Trust Workers Step Out For Charity

7 May 2008

A ten mile walk to raise money for breast cancer research is being boosted by a group from national charity Shaw Trust which helps people turn their lives around.

At least seven workers from the Trust's Disability Action Centre will join hundreds of walkers on the walk from Neath to Resolven which begins at 12 noon on Sunday May 11th.

"We've never done anything like this before but this is such a worthy cause and we're looking forward to the challenge," said Mandy Hinchey Admin Co-ordinator at the DAC.

"Breast Cancer is a disease which affects so many women, I know of five women who have suffered, but thankfully successfully been treated from this awful disease in the last two years alone and unfortunately, a colleague here who was not so fortunate and passed away last year.

"Without fund raising campaigns, like "In The Pink", financing research, advancement in treatments and cures would be difficult.

"We also look forward to flying the flag for Shaw Trust on the day as this is such a wonderful organisation which does such great work and we are proud to work here," she added.

Shaw Trust, which helps people with disability or disadvantage to find work and achieve independence worked with some 60,000 people across the country last year.

Joining Mandy will be Jane Davies, Rhiannon Davies, Jacqueline Harris, Julie Jones, Angela Davies and Stuart Jones.
