Modernising Day Care
Shaw Trust has unrivalled experience of delivering opportunties for progression and we widen the choice of daytime activities with a strong emphasis on personal development and progression.Through our partnerships with local authorities we are helping to remodel day care services, moving clients towards greater independence.
We do this in a variety of ways including social business, supported employment and personal development services.
Our alternatives to day care services work because we provide:
- occupational activities, such as horticulture, wood work, retail, re-cycling and catering
- training including IT, numeracy and literacy, and life skills
- employment in social businesses, work preparation and work tasters.
Shaw Trust offers a cost effective way of increasing the number of people who access your services and at the same time giving choice and opportunity for service users.
Shaw Trust Social Business
One of our most innovative alternatives to day care is Shaw Trust social business. This gives real choice and delivers excellent support to vulnerable adults leading to progression and independence.
With social business Shaw Trust has developed a new way of delivering social care providing opportunities for adults with a range of complex needs.
Work is an important part of people's lives. It gives structure to the week and can be beneficial to health, well-being and confidence. Meaningful work can help disabled and disadvantaged people to achieve their full potential, live more independent lives and become integrated into local communities.
Shaw Trust started working with London Borough of Bromley in 2004 to deliver alternatives to day care for adults with learning disabilities by setting up Bromley Social Business.
