Swindon Pride 2009

As part of Shaw Trust’s ongoing commitment to Equality and Diversity and in line with our position in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index, Shaw Trust was proud to support, for the second year running, the annual Pride event in Swindon. Swindon Pride is turning into a great family day out; the Town Gardens is a lovely venue with a concert bowl as well as a bandstand and the music rocked well into the night. The stage area was festooned with a mix of colourful characters from the LGBT parade while families with picnics enjoyed an eclectic range of music in the sunshine. We really were lucky with the weather this year, the sun shone all afternoon and we got to talk to lots of people who were interested in our work. We do hope this event will go from strength to strength.

Kaye Long, Equality and Diversity Adviser attended Swindon Pride, "We hope this event will go from strength to strength. Taking part in the event, apart from being great fun!, is important for our Stone Wall accreditation and shows our strong support for diversity in the community".

Safia Nelson, Employment Adviser also attended, "Swindon Pride was a really good day. For me it was a positive experience to see the diverse range of people attending the event, especially families. It was a celebration of diversity and equality and great to speak to many people".
