Volunteer & Discover Something New at Palmer Gardens
7 April 2010
Want to learn something new, make friends, give something back to the community and have some time to spare…why not volunteer? Trowbridge-based Palmer Gardens, the garden centre owned and managed by national employment charity Shaw Trust, is looking for volunteers.
Garden centre, cafe and social enterprise, Palmer Gardens provides training and employment to disabled and disadvantaged people. There are lots of different opportunities for volunteering from supporting trainees in their work, helping out in the café and shop, to assisting in the plant area, nursery or administration of the organisation.
Mark Bradbury, general manager of Palmer Gardens comments: “This is an ideal opportunity for local people to get involved in their community. It doesn’t matter how much, or how little time you have to spare, or what your existing skills are; Palmer Gardens, our customers and the people we support, really appreciate all of our volunteers and all the different things they do here. Why not give us a call and find out more?”
Becoming a volunteer is a great way to develop your skills, meet new people and work as part of an enthusiastic team, while benefiting your local community. With your help Shaw Trust can support even more disabled and disadvantaged people in this area to learn new skills, find jobs and live more independently in 2010 and beyond.
