Volunteer to talk about your job and help young disabled and disadvantaged people in your area
At Shaw Trust we believe in Corporate Social Responsibility and giving back to your local community. That’s why we are partnering with a not-for-profit organisation called Growing Ambitions and encouraging you to volunteer a half-an-hour to talk about your job and career to young people in your area.By volunteering just half-an-hour of your time you really can motivate these young people and make a positive difference to their lives!
Remember the careers advice you got at school? If it wasn’t up to much, even more reason for you to make a difference now to the young people near you.
Young people everywhere need information to help them make informed career choices. So sign up through our volunteering portal below. Speak just once if you want to, or as many times as you like.
Four steps
- Register to Speak - taking just a few minutes to complete a screen
- Wait to be contacted by a careers adviser (from a school, college or university near your home or workplace)
- Fix a good date and time that suits you
- Go in and speak
Here’s a Speaker’s Guide with a few useful tips that might help you.
