Shaw Trust Assistive Technology Training courses support our mission to give people with disabilities the chance to access information freely and use computer based technologies in every day life.It is a versatile, bespoke training service designed to meet the specific needs of the user so that it is relevant to their area of work.
Shaw Trust is passionate about empowering disabled people to become employed or to stay in work. As part of our range of services to empower the individual and help them access computer based technologies, we can provide Assistive Technology Training.
Assistive Technology Training can help you:
Employ people with disabilities who may need adaptive technology but otherwise have the required skills to do the job.Retain a member of staff who has an acquired disability or condition which has resulted in a need for adaptive technology.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking
Ever thought of how you could use a computer if you couldn't use a keyboard or mouse?How would you be able to type?
How would you surf the web, click on a link, talk to your friends on line?
For those with hand mobility problems (RSI, Arthritis, Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, Paralysis to name but a few) Dragon NaturallySpeaking is a real lifeline to using a computer and ultimately staying in work.
You can send e-mails and instant messages, surf the web, create documents all by simply speaking.
Using Dragon NaturallySpeaking, you can dictate faster than typing and be more accurate as Dragon NaturallySpeaking doesn't make spelling mistakes.
Read and Write Gold (textHELP)
If you are a computer user with reading and writing difficulties then maybe Read & Write Gold is for you. This excellent package contains applications to help construct words and sentences. You can tell the software to read letters, words and sentences as you type, read out text on web pages and images. It can also convert text into sound files and read and navigate Daisy books.It also has features such as Word Prediction, phonetic spell checking and homophone support to name but a few.
Zoomtext
This is a magnification software tool that helps if you are visually impaired. It not only magnifies your screen but also reads all your applications, documents, e-mails and web pages. You can change the colour and shape of your cursor, to suit your individual needs.Because Shaw Trust supports all disabled and disadvantaged people, our expertise is not limited to one group or a specific area of provision; whether you are an employer, a provider of a service to the public or a small voluntary organisation, we can support and advise you.
