Customers currently working towards Accessible websites...

Sky is committed to ensuring all its products and services can be used by everyone and we are pleased to be working with Shaw Trust to improve our website accessibility

Carmel Giblin
Head of Corporate Responsibility & Accessibility

We found the Shaw Trust Web Accessibility Service extremely informative and useful. We had previous experience of working with partially sighted users, however working with real people with a range of needs really helped us to understand what they need from a web experience. We realised that there was plenty for us to work on and were inspired by our day working with you.

Some comments from other satisfied customers…

Clackmannanshire Council

The Shaw Trust conducted an accessibility audit of our website, ClacksWeb, as part of a major project to redevelop the site. I would not hesitate to recommend the services provided by the Trust to other organisations who are seeking to improve the accessibility of their websites. The entire experience was professional, educational and excellent value.

We selected the Shaw Trust due to their unique combination of pan-disability testing and expert technical review. The work undertaken by the Trust's testers played a significant part in ClacksWeb winning two national awards for web accessibility, and most importantly in ensuring our site is accessible to as wide a range of users as possible, whatever their abilities.

The Accessibility report was detailed and informative allowing the Web team to work with our Content Management System (CMS) suppliers to ensure all accessibility issues were resolved before we signed off the UAT. So, it's not a matter of testing and merely delivering a report - the team at Shaw Trust will talk you through the issues in more detail and continue re-testing until everyone's happy.

Making your website accessible makes your services accessible. Working with Shaw Trust gave us a fantastic insight on how our website could better perform not just for for people with disabilities but for everyone. The team are very friendly and understand the 'real-world' issues facing organisations that genuinely want to improve the accessibility of their websites.

I found the service from the Shaw Trust to be excellent, and they have been very helpful throughout the whole process. Using human testers has helped us appreciate the real world problems faced by people with disabilities as they browse the web - it cuts through all the theory, guidelines and checklists and really gets to the heart of the issue. I found the day spent with the testing team invaluable, and the notes from my observations led to us making some changes to the usability of the site that go beyond the scope of the report.

The report was well-presented and gave us a clear path to make the necessary alterations to our website, with the comments from the testers again reinforcing the idea that accessibility is about removing barriers faced by real people.

As website managers we are bombarded with guidance about accessibility and best practice - my problem was, how do I know if the adjustments I am are making are actually helping people who have disabilities use our website? It's not easy to gain an understanding of how all of this access technology works and the barriers even simple things can be to users. The day I spent with the web accreditation testing team really brought home to me the importance of making websites accessible and has given me a much better understanding of what we can do and why - I'd recommend doing the same to anyone concerned about websites and accessibility.

The Shaw Trust's Accessibility Service provides us with clear, practical advice and guidance which allows us to improve both the accessibility and usability of our site. It's excellent value for money especially as it involves testing with real users.

Dorset For You

Having made considerable efforts over a period of time to improve the accessibility of our website, we were keen for a comprehensive audit to be undertaken to make us aware of what barriers to access still remained. We approached ShawTrust as we wanted the website to be tested by real people with a range of disabilities who used different access technologies to access the web.

From start to finish, the experience with ShawTrust has been extremely positive. They have been highly professional, whilst also being friendly and good fun to work with. The day we spent in Wales meeting the team who did the testing was particularly useful and enjoyable.

The report arrived on time and is written in an easy to follow style with plenty of screen grabs to illustrate issues encountered. Now the hard work begins!
