Shaw Trust is a national charity working to create brighter futures for the people and communities we serve.
We believe everyone should have the chance to achieve their potential. That’s why every day our staff and volunteers work in communities to transform the lives of people often excluded by society.
Your donations will help disabled people into work, people with mental ill-health to improve their health and wellbeing, children in deprived areas or with special educational needs as they leave school, or offenders coming out of prison who want to turn their lives around.
Donations allow us to invest in community projects, such as our social enterprises across the UK, and to provide additional resources to academy schools in Shaw Education Trust.
Helping Shaw Education Trust
We recently opened an interactive playground at Walton Hall Academy, for students with special educational needs. Equipment in the old playground was unfit for a wide range of ages and didn’t achieve the high health and safety standards our students deserve.
With funds raised by Shaw Trust supporters, the new playground was greeted with enthusiasm by the students. Academy Principle Pauline Carmichael said:
“Seeing the faces and hearing shrills of delight was so moving! Thank you to everyone who helped us to achieve our goal.”
The new playground gives students the opportunity to socialise and develop invaluable interpersonal skills through play. Using playground equipment helps to improve balance, gross motor skills and mobility, leading to increased self-confidence and self-esteem. Engagement in learning is greater after physical activity too.

Remember Shaw Trust in your Will
You can support our work by leaving a gift in your will. Contact us directly if you would like more information.
How to remember Shaw Trust in your Will
You can support our work by leaving a gift in your will. The two main types of charitable legacies are pecuniary – where you specify a sum of money to be donated – and residuary, which allows you to donate a percentage of the net value of your estate after you have provided for family and friends. We recommend using a solicitor to make or amend your will. They will be able to advise on wording, and ensure your wishes are met. Please contact us directly if you would like advice or information. If you have already included a gift to Shaw Trust in your Will, we are extremely grateful. Please let us know, so we can keep you updated about our work.
You can donate unwanted items to our charity shops
We always need more donations for our network of community-based charity shops, so we can raise more funds. In particular, we welcome donations of:
- DVDs and Blu-rays
