The launch of the Power 100 LIST 2017. Britain’s most influential persons with a disability or impairment #DisabilityPower100.
“Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.”
Shaw Trust are once again delighted to sponsor the Power 100 List 2017, a celebration of Britain’s most influential persons with a disability or impairment. Chaired by the fantastic Baroness Carys “Tanni” Grey- Thompson, Crossbench Peer, campaigner and Paralympic legend, this year’s independent judging panel for the the Power 100 LIST

As you can imagine, compiling the list is an almost impossible task. With over 10 million disabled people in Britain, everyone has their own inspirational, very personal story of overcoming barriers to succeed. As Booker T. Washington famously said “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.”
Roy O’Shaughnessy, Shaw Trust’s Chief Executive, said:
"Every year, I am overwhelmed by the achievements of these inspirational individuals and I am buoyed by the positive impact this publication has had on our society since its inception three years ago. This list plays a vital role in providing much needed encouragement to the young and talented leaders of tomorrow, allowing them to see that aspiration and ambition can
be fulfilled regardless of disability or impairment."
As one of the UK’s leading disability charities, we are fully committed to delivering a truly accessible world for everyone. Our vision is a country where everyone has the opportunity for employment, inclusion and independence.
