Investing in Volunteers is the UK quality standard for all organisations involving volunteers. Investing in Volunteers aims to improve the quality of the volunteering experience for all volunteers and for organisations to acknowledge the enormous contribution made by volunteers. Investing in Volunteers is managed by the UK Volunteering Forum and delivered by NCVO, Volunteer Scotland, Volunteer Now in Northern Ireland and Wales Council for Voluntary Action.
“Firstly, I’d like to say the biggest thanks to all of our volunteers. Volunteers are part of our organisational DNA, without them we would never achieve our vision of creating brighter futures or transforming the lives of thousands of people in the UK. By receiving this quality award we can now say with confidence that Shaw Trust offers a first-class and rewarding experience for volunteers and puts us firmly in place as a leading volunteer-involving organisation
.”, Austin Hardie, Director of Charitable Operations & Enterprise Activities
The assessment took place over four days, assessors spoke to 24 members of staff across all of our divisions. 40 Shaw Trust volunteers were interviewed and a further 169 were contacted via an online survey.
Some of the quotes included:
"Whatever you’re going to ask me, the answer is excellent. Everything is excellent. I cannot fault them.”
"They [the staff] say thank you every time. It's just a lovely, really friendly place to be."
“I was suffering from mental health problems which was very challenging. Volunteering has done wonders for my mental health - fantastic!"
