Come along to the Christmas fayre on Saturday 1 December between 10am and 1pm at Shaw Trust Enterprise Garden Centre at Seaham.
Buy a non-drop Nordman Christmas tree, take part in a wreath making workshop, enjoy a mince pie or warm up with a hot chocolate in the café. Father Christmas will also be in his grotto and ready to meet those who want to get their wish lists in early.
In addition to the Christmas goods, the usual bedding plants, perennials, hanging baskets and wood work products will be available.
The Shaw Trust Enterprise garden centre at Seaham doesn’t only sell plants and things for the outdoors, it also provides vocational training and work experience opportunities to adults with a disability or learning difficulties. In addition, it is an alternative education provision for children who are struggling to achieve in a mainstream setting. Shopping there supports the local community and helps people transform their lives.
Paula Maddison-Green, manager of Shaw Trust Enterprise at Seaham, said: “Our elves are busy getting the centre ready for a special Christmas fayre. We’ll have everything you need to make your home look like a winter wonderland. And you can kick off the Christmas season by visiting Father Christmas and enjoying some festive foods in our Café. It’ll be a fun day for all the family.
Paula continued: “We give those who work for us experience in a live retail setting that is open to the public. We nurture – but also challenge - them to become independent and find employment. Buying the hand-crafted products made at the centre gives those who make them the knowledge that their skills are sought after. It also ensures that the centre can stay open for the whole community.”
