Mental Health First Aid training for your organisation
Every year millions of working days are lost to mental ill health. The most common reasons are anxiety, stress and depression.
Protecting the mental health of your workforce is as important as protecting their physical health.
Shaw Trust’s Mental Health First Aid Training allows your organisation to spot the signs and symptoms of mental health conditions early and provide help, support and relevant signage to support services.
This is a certified course delivered by a quality assured instructor, who has attended the seven day instructor training programme accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health.
Who should book onto the course?
This course is for anybody who comes into contact with the public, who may potentially come into contact with someone experiencing a Mental Health Crisis and unsure how to respond. It is a valuable course for everybody, in particularly those who work with vulnerable adults and for employers who have concerns about the wellbeing of their staff.
By attending this course you will not be a trained therapist but you will be a Mental Health First Aider.

What does the course cover?
This course gives delegates the confidence, knowledge and skills to be able to recognise mental health problems, to respond and provide initial support, and support the person’s recovery.
The course is delivered in four modules, with each focusing on Mental Health First Aid Skills.

- Suicidal Crisis and First aid
- Anxiety, Personality Disorders, Eating Disorders and Self Harm
- Mental Health First Aid Action Plan for all
- Psychosis, Schizophrenia and Bi Polar Disorder

At the end of the course, each delegate will receive a Mental Health First Aider certificate, a copy of the MHFA Manual, Z card and a workbook.

The course will run from 9.30am - 4.30pm with short refreshments breaks and 30min for lunch.
