Disabled Living Foundation

DLF, a part of Shaw Trust, is a national charity which has been providing impartial advice, information and training on independent living since 1969.

The charity was founded by Lady (Pix) Hamilton, at the same time that DLF Vice-President Lord Morris of Manchester was putting forward his Chronically Sick And Disabled Persons Bill which was steered to Royal Assent in 1970.

In the forty + years since its launch, DLF has worked to improve the lives of disabled adults and children, older people and their families and carers. A founder member of the Information Standard (opens in new tab or window), a certification scheme for health and social care information, DLF also provides a diverse range of services.
