Shaw Trust Employment Services

Employment services

Shaw Trust has over thirty years’ experience of providing employment services to help people from a diverse range of backgrounds to find and stay in work. We work with local commissioners like Kent County Council and with national commissioners such as the Department for Work and Pensions to deliver employment programmes across the UK.
Our employment programmes help individuals to gain the skills they need to develop a successful career. We offer employability training, interview skills practice, and holistic and personalised support to enable individuals to overcome their barriers to work. At Shaw Trust we believe that everyone has the right to engage in meaningful work that they enjoy and that helps them to live independent and inclusive lives.

What we deliver
Shaw Trust delivers a range of employment services including:
The Work Programme is a government supported service which can help people prepare for, find and stay in work. Shaw Trust delivers the Work Programme as a prime contractor in London East and operates as a subcontractor in six other areas of the UK.
Work Choice is the government’s specialist disability employment provision. It enables people to find and retain work through personalised support. Shaw Trust Work Choice services are delivered throughout the UK. Work Choice is co-financed through the European Social Fund.
The Specialist Employability Support service supports unemployed disabled adults with complex needs to gain the skills they need to live independent lives and to move into employment. Shaw Trust delivers nationwide. SES is co-financed through the European Social Fund.
Aim 4 Work is a FREE specialist employability programme for people with common mental health conditions living in South London and North & East London. Aim4Work is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and European Social Fund under their Building Better Opportunities programme. For further information about the programme visit the aim4work web page.

Investing in communities
Shaw Trust is committed to helping local communities to thrive. We have invested in delivering community focused Work Programme services in Hackney and Lewisham through our Community Hubs pilot. The purpose of the pilot is to create dynamic delivery centres where clients want to visit and staff want to work. The look and feel of our delivery centres has been transformed, with the Community Hubs offering Shaw Trust clients a diverse range of person-centred services including employability support, health and wellbeing services, and even Zumba!
The Work Foundation independently evaluated this innovative pilot and found that clients in the Community Hubs were more likely to find and stay in work. Shaw Trust is now taking best practice from the Community Hubs and is using it to enhance our employment programmes across the country.
Please visit the commission us page if you are interested in how you can work innovatively with Shaw Trust.
