50 plus services
Shaw Trust is committed to providing services to support individuals aged 50 and over to achieve brighter futures by moving into employment, gaining independence and taking control of their lives.
As part of this commitment, Shaw Trust runs The Age and Employment Network (TAEN). This is a dedicated resource for older people who are seeking work or who are already in work.
A diverse labour market
A diverse labour market is an effective labour market and nobody should be excluded from being a part of that on the grounds or age, disability, health condition or any other factor. Please visit the TAEN website (opens in new tab or window)
for full details of the services available.
Services for older jobseekers
TAEN is Shaw Trust’s centre of expertise on age and work. The site includes information on the barriers older jobseekers face, the modern job market and the best techniques for navigating it. This has been condensed into a handy guide for jobseekers aged 50 plus, (opens in new tab or window)
. There is also a wide range of other resources to help older jobseekers to find and stay in work, which can be accessed by visiting the TAEN website (opens in new tab or window)
Services for employers
Shaw Trust also provides support for employers to ensure that they benefit from a diverse workforce that includes workers aged 50 plus. Visit our services for employers
page for full details.
The Employment Equality (Age) Regulations have been in place since 1 October 2006. They cover multiple aspects of working life for older employees. Individual workers and employers can benefit from understanding the regulations and so we’ve included information on them for you to read on the TAEN website (opens in new tab or window)
Keeping up to date
As well as helpful resources and policy information, the TAEN website also includes news items and updates on topical issues for and about older workers – you can visit the TAEN news page (opens in new tab or window)
to read the latest news items.
