Shaw Trust in Wales

Shaw Trust is a registered charity that delivers services across Wales. We support individuals in Wales to achieve brighter futures by providing services that promote moving into employment, gaining independence and taking control of their lives. These include the Work Choice service, a range or retail shops and our Disability Action Centre.

Work Choice is the government’s specialist employment provision for people with disabilities and long-term health conditions. It enables people to find and retain work through personalised support. Shaw Trust delivers Work Choice at several locations across Wales.

Through our Work Choice programme, we work with local and national employers to support them to develop diverse, effective staff teams that meet their business needs while giving something back to the local community.

Charity retail shops help Shaw Trust to raise funds. The charity uses these to provide added value services that would not otherwise be possible.

The Disability Action Centre is a purpose built accessible-for-all building that includes office space for rent and meeting rooms for hire. We run a range of services from the Disability Action Centre, including our accessibility services.

Welsh Language Policy

In December 2014 Shaw Trust's Welsh Language Scheme was approved by the Welsh Language Board. We have introduced the Scheme because Shaw Trust understands the importance of offering people the option of using their preferred language to carry out their business.

In terms of equal opportunities, having a bilingual policy that encompasses the people of Wales is recognised throughout the principality as being vital to good business practice. We want to ensure that our services are amongst the best and most accessible in Wales.

This exciting development will include:
  • Welsh-speaking options for telephone users
  • Shaw Trust documentation and literature in the Welsh language
  • Option for clients to work with their adviser in the Welsh language

Guidelines will be made available to staff on how to meet our Welsh Language Scheme commitments. These will include:
  • Communicating with Welsh speakers
  • Corporate identity
  • Printed materials including advertisements, marketing materials, etc.

Shaw Trust is committed to inclusion. This commitment includes working towards a fully bilingual service for Shaw Trust in Wales.

You can read our Welsh Language Policy (opens in new tab or window) for further details.
